Speaking

Glen’s speaking skills have been utilized in Asia, Central America, Europe, Africa, and, of course, in Canada. His vast experience in numerous sectors has placed his abilities in demand. He is often requested to speak on a number of crucial issues:

Poverty – Glen has been involved in the struggle against poverty for all of his adult life. He has served as the volunteer executive director of the London Food Bank for the past 25 years, also acting as chair for the Ontario Association of Food Banks. He has participated in a number of anti-poverty initiatives locally, nationally and internationally. His speaking has concentrated on anti-poverty strategies and ways for average citizens to change the face of  poverty.

Government and Public Policy – Glen’s experience as a Member of Parliament provides valuable insight into how effective politics can be accomplished in an age of overt partisanship. His personal stories of success and frustration serve as an effective backdrop to any person or group seeking to influence government, and his belief in democratic reform drives much of his narrative.

Citizenship – Since his exit from Parliament, Glen has concentrated his efforts on the need for citizens to take back the political system and make it accountable. To this end his has written a book on Citizenship and speaks extensively on the role of citizens in the modern era.

International Development – as the critic for international aid and development in the shadow parliament in Ottawa, and as the executive director of the NGO Canadian Aid for Southern Sudan, Glen speaks on his experiences in a way that provides hopes and ideas for individuals and groups seeking to help their world. His experiences in Asia and Central America also factor in to his perspective.

Corporate Charitable Giving – working with businesses, small and large, in their charitable efforts has been part of Glen’s profile for 30 years. He focuses on how to donate in ways that bring about change on the key issues that challenge our world, in the process building the skills of employees within their own companies.

Education – students at all levels are keen on issues like the environment, foreign aid, human rights and democratic reform. Glen is frequently asked to speak at educational institutions because of his belief that even one student can change their world through dedication and purpose.
